Philosophy / Curriculum
Robert’s students learn to thoroughly understand the workings of music from a practical and theoretical viewpoint. Students will study technique, musical theory, ear training, transposition, sight singing, the basics of accompanying (vocalist and chamber music), and form and analysis. Most importantly, they will develop an extensive repertoire of pieces, ranging from beginning level works to advanced compositions.
Robert has successfully taught students as young as two years of age (using the Suzuki method), and as old as 70+, developing individualized curricula for each student. It is never too early (or too late) to start studying music.
Payment
Students may choose either 30 minute or 60 minute private lessons (one lesson per week). The fee is $120 per month for a weekly 30 minute lesson or $200 per month for a weekly 60 minute lesson. This fee is due by the 7th of each month. Students can pay either at the first lesson of the month or by PayPal (click here). A $20 late fee will be charged for all payments not received by the 7th.
Practice Habits
Robert’s students are expected to practice a minimum of 30 minutes per day, at least 5 days a week. Practice is extremely important – students will not progress and develop without spending time practicing and studying assigned material.
Punctuality
The student is responsible for arriving on time for his or her lesson. Missed time will not be made up. If the student is under the age of eighteen, it is required for a parent or legal guardian to remain at the studio for the duration of the lesson.

Schedule
Your time is valuable, as is Robert's. In the event that you need to reschedule a lesson, please contact Robert at least 48 hours prior to your lesson. If possible, Robert will try to accommodate your schedule change. If Robert has an unexpected absence, students will be notified via phone and will receive a discount on the next month’s tuition.
Teaching Materials
In the 'students only' section of this website (see below), Robert has numerous resources available for download. Students should print out these materials, store them in a binder, and bring them to their lessons. Additional books and resources will be required as students progress. These materials can either be picked up at local music stores or ordered online. Students are responsible for paying for their own music. Every effort will be made (within copyright laws) to ensure that these costs are kept to a minimum.
